Exciting times, and great topic. There is so much fundamental disruption going on (digitech, biotech, energy tech, material tech etc) that old systems need to be very deeply reinvented and customer proximity goes to new level. " Every breath we take" counts.

I like that we are finishing up where we began, the CNS being the basis of our operating system, everything above it has been created to assist the cns in our moving through the physical world, I remember on the old radios you had a separate dial to fine tune the frequency so that the information coming through the airwaves could be cleaned up and presented to the listener's ears in a more precise manner. Our brain is that dial that fine tunes the outside world and gives us the ability to function competently in the ever changing environment we exist in, well done Mark, and Aidan, thank you again both very much for sharing your time and work, I've really enjoyed this series, peace

Loved this explanation - it simply makes sense. I came across Mark a few years ago while investigating Philosophy of the Mind and in particular contemporary theories like the Dave Chalmers ‘Hard Problem’. Arguments between functionalist, constructionists, predictive processing (out of body uploading), panpsychists, and some rather more esoteric ideas and the ‘Hard Problem’ appeared to me to have the most salience. Until I came across Mark Solms and his dual aspect monism. It logically explains consciousness in functionalist terms and also in cognitive conditions. I’m a raving fan.

(I've already read The Hidden Spring, and I'm sure these conversations will help me recall and better understand the book with greater depth. Simply from reading the video description I can tell that these are flaming, extremist Leftists, so I'm not going to waste my time here. And this professor comes out of Germany. It's always Germany. Germany is just dead set on destroying Western Civilization. First it was Martin Luther, then it was Hitler, now it's anti-Western woke culture. Germany is just a portal to hell.

I have been sleep thinking for most of my life (77 years old). I don't use it for everyday life experiences. Rather, I pursued an understanding of Nature that many consider impossible to know. There are four steps that I found useful. First, I was 100% convinced I would solve the problem that was driven by curiosity. Second, I needed to work extremely hard at how to solve the problem. Third, I needed to identify the specific conflict while entering a sleep state. And Fourth, I needed to grab the answer while waking; or, it would be gone. Over a span of around half a century, this method provided every crux thought. Only once did it mislead me. After two years of hard work I had to discard one of only three thoughts that ever triggered endorphins. Now, I could even tell you what the thought was because it was so completely discarded. This is really difficult to do. One can only guess at what sleep mechanism does the hard work. My guess was different than Eric's guess of neurons. Early on, I thought it was neurons, but after discovering the mechanism of entanglement, my guess shifted. Now, I believe the thoughts come from others whether or not they currently live. I know this sounds weird and likely is, but I believe completely in it. It also is the way I like to think of it. In some sense, the entangled thoughts are using the person to do their bidding. I will not try to explain my pursuit, but it does provide a strong basis for my beliefs. Thank you for the discussion. I did not know others pursued many of these thought methods.
